RoboCup Portugal has the sad duty to inform that Prof. Gerhard Kraetzschmar, one of the RoboCup Trustees, and a great friend of many Portuguese RoboCuppers, passed away yesterday. Gerhard was a professor at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences in Bonn, Germany. He was a regular participant in RoboCup since the very early years, was a trustee of the RoboCup Federation starting in 2005, and served as Vice President from 2009 until 2016.  In 2016, he was the General Chair of RoboCup in Leipzig, Germany.  We had the great honor of having him as keynote speaker in the IEEE ICARSC 2019, during the RoboCup Portuguese Open, last April in Gondomar. His family and friends should be proud of Gerhard’s great spirit and of the legacy he leaves to the robotics world community. And may Gerhard rest in peace.
